Support for Staff
Save the following information on your phone in case of an emergency.
 
If you are in immediate danger or seriously injured on campus you can call the University Security Service on 0114 222 4444

If you are off campus, contact the Emergency Services on 999. (For non emergency situations, you can call 101). 

Find a safe space. If an incident has just happened try and find somewhere you feel safe. 

Other steps
You may wish to talk to a friend or a family member.

Talk to your line manager: Particularly if your work has been/is being affected. 

Each faculty has a lead in equality, diversity and inclusion, who you are welcome to contact.

The BAME Staff Network is happy for BAME staff to contact them directly to discuss issues and to join the network.

24 Hour Staff Helpline: You can contact the University's Staff Helpline and Counselling Service on 0800 028 1947. The service is free, independent, confidential and available 24 hours a day. 

Trade Unions: The University recognises four campus trade unions. UNISON UNITE, GMB and UCU. Staff who are members can contact their unions for support and advice. 
 
 
Making a report 
If you choose to report anonymously we will not be able to offer direct advice and are unlikely to be able to initiate any formal processes. 
  
If you choose to name a member of staff or a student in your report, there are procedures which set out the actions the University may take, this could include initiating an investigation. 

It is important to be aware that University investigations are limited to investigating ‘misconduct’, only the Police are able to investigate from a criminal perspective.
